225 municipalities in Valladolid saw the totality of the August 12, 2026 eclipse.

Valladolid saw the Sun completely covered, and so did another 224 municipalities in the province, 225 in total inside the band. The longest totality was recorded at Melgar de Arriba in the far north at 1m 43s, though the distribution proved remarkably even because the shadow crossed the territory at its widest. The best index scores gathered in two distinct areas, the Esgueva valley and the fringe of the Tierra de Campos plain.
Encinas de Esgueva took first place with 83.1 points, built on 1m 41s of totality and a 54.6 percent historical clear-sky rate. Villacarralón followed with the longest total phase in the group at 1m 42s and slightly poorer sky odds, while Canillas de Esgueva, Castroverde de Cerrato and Fombellida tied on 82.7. What stands out about Valladolid is its consistency: the provincial clear-sky average is 53.4 percent and the range runs only from 49.5 to 56.6 percent, leaving no obviously bad corner.
The Sun was eight or nine degrees above the horizon at maximum. Over the plateaux and cereal plains that usually sufficed, but a riverside line of poplars, a grain silo or a row of wind turbines cutting into the west-northwest made the difference between seeing the corona and missing it. The sky figure is a climate average for 1996 to 2025, not a report of that evening. The next total eclipse visible from Spain is the one on 2 August 2027, and its path sets foot only in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla.
Totality was not evenly distributed across Valladolid: 91 seconds separated its best-placed town from its worst. That is why the list is split into three bands worked out from the province itself, the terciles of its own duration distribution rather than one fixed cut applied to all thirty-one provinces. Inside each band the towns stay in alphabetical order.
The long third: 1m 33s to 1m 43s
81 of the 225 towns in Valladolid, 36% of the provincial total, reached 1m 33s of totality or more. The longest reading belonged to Melgar de Arriba at 1m 43s, ahead of Santervás de Campos (1m 42s) and Villacarralón (1m 42s). They cluster towards the north-east of the province, the side the centreline of the path ran along: the closer to that axis, the longer the shadow took to pass.
The middle band: 1m 18s to 1m 32s
Another 72 towns, 32% of the province, landed between 1m 18s and 1m 32s. The ceiling of the band, 1m 32s, was reached by 6 towns at once, 11 seconds short of Melgar de Arriba, which set the provincial maximum. This is the transition band and it behaves like one: it holds no area of its own, it slots in between the other two.
The short third: 12s to 1m 17s
The remaining 72 towns, 32% of the province, fell short of 1m 18s. The tightest of all was Torrecilla de la Orden at 12s, 91 seconds below Melgar de Arriba. Figures like those put you on the very edge of the path, where the shadow only clips the ground and totality shrinks to little more than a blink. They concentrate in the south of the province, the side furthest from the centreline of the path.
