The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Fombellida (Valladolid)

Fombellida came three seconds short of Valladolid's maximum. Its 100 seconds of total phase, between 20:29:25 and 20:31:05, fall below the 103 recorded at Melgar de Arriba, in the far north of the province, and the 101 at Encinas de Esgueva, less than eight kilometres away. In a province whose median was 87 seconds, that was still clearly above the ordinary.

Its strength lay in the combination of elevation and sky: 847 metres, the twenty-sixth highest of the 225 Valladolid towns under the shadow, and a historical 54.6% clear rate for 12 August, exactly the same percentage as the provincial leader. With 8.2 degrees of clearance against the western terrain, the location did not depend on finding a viewpoint. The result was 82.7 points, fourth in the province. The statistical rainfall figure for the date, 24.0%, is among the lowest in the valley, though it describes the average behaviour of thirty Augusts rather than that particular day.
