The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Villacarralón (Valladolid)
Valladolid
Within the path of totalityOf the 3,963 Spanish municipalities that saw totality, in 2,929 the Sun set before the partial phase was over: the eclipse was left, quite literally, without a visible ending. Villacarralón was one of the places that did see it through. Here the Moon's last bite withdrew from the solar disc at 21:22:26, with the Sun still above the horizon, and it is the only such case among the entries gathered in this archive.
The credit does not belong to the calendar alone. In the far northwest of the province, out on Tierra de Campos, Villacarralón had 9.2 degrees of clearance between the Sun's altitude and the west-northwest terrain: the third best horizon of the 225 Valladolid municipalities in the band, and the most open of any town in this group. Its 102 seconds of totality, from 20:28:51 to 20:30:33, were the second longest in Valladolid, one short of Melgar de Arriba, ten kilometres to the south. The index gave it 82.9 points despite a 52.7% clear-sky figure, 162nd in the province.
