The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Castroverde de Cerrato (Valladolid)

Castroverde de Cerrato brought the dry note to Valladolid's leading group. Its mean cloud cover on 12 August, 30.7% across the 1996-2025 series, is the lowest of the four Esgueva and Cerrato towns gathered in this archive, and its typical high, 29.6 degrees, the warmest of them. It also sits lowest, at 791 metres, and slightly further west than its neighbours, already looking out over the Cerrato plateau.

Those climatic differences bought it no advantage in the index, because the weighting rewards duration above all: its 100 seconds of totality, from 20:29:25 to 20:31:05, left it three short of the provincial maximum and on 82.7 points, tied with Canillas de Esgueva and Fombellida. The horizon, with 8.0 degrees of clearance over the Sun's altitude, posed no problem at all. Sunset came at 21:21:08, a round fifty minutes after the corona had gone, with the partial phase still running. Before any of that, the partial phase had been running for 55 minutes and 9 seconds.
