183 municipalities in Zamora saw the totality of the August 12, 2026 eclipse.

The path of totality crossed Zamora through its eastern half, taking in 183 municipalities including the provincial capital. The longest figures showed up in the Tierra de Campos plain along the boundary with Valladolid and León, where Castroverde de Campos reached 1m 29s, the provincial maximum. Durations shrank towards the west and south, which made the north-eastern corner the sector to head for if you wanted to squeeze out every second of totality without leaving the province.
The index listed those same villages in order: Castroverde de Campos on 79.2, Villanueva del Campo on 78.8, Villar de Fallaves on 78.3, Vega de Villalobos on 78.2 and Matilla de Arzón on 78. Their historical clear-sky averages fall between 52 and 56.3 percent, and the province as a whole averages 52.9 percent within a 41.8 to 56.9 percent range. These are typical plateau numbers, well ahead of the Cantabrian coast and a little behind the Ebro valley.
The Sun sat nine to ten degrees above the horizon, one of the more comfortable altitudes on the entire track, which eased the demand on terrain without removing it. The rule held regardless: the west-northwest had to be free of trees, buildings and embankments, something the open cereal plains of Tierra de Campos make reasonably straightforward. The clear-sky percentage comes from a thirty-year series covering 1996 to 2025 and describes typical climate, not that afternoon. Spain's next total eclipse, on 2 August 2027, reaches Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla alone.
Totality was not evenly distributed across Zamora: 81 seconds separated its best-placed town from its worst. That is why the list is split into three bands worked out from the province itself, the terciles of its own duration distribution rather than one fixed cut applied to all thirty-one provinces. Inside each band the towns stay in alphabetical order.
The long third: 1m 14s to 1m 29s
62 of the 183 towns in Zamora, 34% of the provincial total, reached 1m 14s of totality or more. The longest reading in the band, 1m 29s, was shared by Castroverde de Campos and Matilla de Arzón. They cluster towards the north-east of the province, the side the centreline of the path ran along: the closer to that axis, the longer the shadow took to pass.
The middle band: 54s to 1m 13s
Another 64 towns, 35% of the province, landed between 54s and 1m 13s. The ceiling of the band, 1m 13s, was reached by 6 towns at once, 16 seconds short of Castroverde de Campos, which set the provincial maximum. This is the transition band and it behaves like one: it holds no area of its own, it slots in between the other two.
The short third: 8s to 53s
The remaining 57 towns, 31% of the province, fell short of 54s. The tightest of all was El Pego at 8s, 81 seconds below Castroverde de Campos. Figures like those put you on the very edge of the path, where the shadow only clips the ground and totality shrinks to little more than a blink. They concentrate in the south-west of the province, the side furthest from the centreline of the path.
