The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Vega de Villalobos (Zamora)

Vega de Villalobos ranked eleventh in Zamora for duration and fourth in the index, and the gap between those two numbers is its whole story. Its 1m 26s fell three seconds short of the provincial maximum, but its 56.3 % of clear days was the best sky record among the five front-runners, and that pushed it upwards. Around it, two neighbours less than eight kilometres away illustrate the two ways of falling short. Villalobos, three and a half kilometres off, had a marginally better sky at 56.4 % and one second less of totality, and finished on 77.8 points. San Miguel del Valle, at seven, added two more seconds of total phase but dropped to 51.8 % clear and ended on 77.5. With 9.2 degrees of margin over the 737 metres of the plateau, the horizon played no part in the reckoning. The climate figures cover the Augusts from 1996 to 2025.
