The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Matilla de Arzón (Zamora)

Matilla de Arzón matched Castroverde de Campos' 1m 29s, the provincial maximum, and still finished fifth in the Zamora index on 78 points. The difference was entirely a matter of climate: its 52 % of clear days for 12 August is more than four points below that of the town at the top of the table, and in a group where everyone had much the same seconds and much the same nine degrees of margin, the sky was the only tiebreaker left. It is also the municipality where the Sun stood highest at maximum of all the Zamora front-runners, some ten degrees on an azimuth of 281, one degree more than the rest, courtesy of its position at the north-western end of the provincial band. Its immediate neighbours, San Cristóbal de Entreviñas, La Torre del Valle and Pobladura del Valle, ranged between 51.5 % and 52.8 %, so the penalty belonged to the district rather than to the village. 1996-2025 series.
