That was 176th of 183 for duration and 177th in the index, on 53.1 points, and the fault lay with neither the horizon nor the sky, since it had 8.8 degrees of margin from the city's 695 metres and 54.1 % of clear days, exactly the provincial median. It was pure geometry: the edge of the shadow passed over Zamora. The proof is in the surroundings. Roales, four kilometres out, already enjoyed 31 seconds; La Hiniesta, 28; Cubillos, 38; and Monfarracinos, ten kilometres away, 39. Every kilometre north-east added totality, and at the province's north-eastern end the maximum was almost five times what the city saw.
