The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Villanueva del Campo (Zamora)

Villanueva del Campo is the highest of the five municipalities heading the Zamora table at 755 metres, and also the one with the horizon most free of relief: 9.3 degrees of margin between the Sun and whatever first broke the western skyline, more than half a degree above Castroverde de Campos or Villar de Fallaves. With 1m 28s of totality and 56.1 % clear-sky days across the thirty-year record, it closed as the province's second on 78.8 points, four tenths behind the leader. The total phase ran from 20:29:22 to 20:30:50. It is worth insisting on something easily forgotten in Tierra de Campos: those margin differences between villages, a few tenths of a degree, changed nothing in practice, because none of them had a mountain in the way. The ranking was decided by seconds and by a cloud statistic describing thirty earlier Augusts, not the one in 2026. On duration alone it placed fifth in Zamora.
