Municipalities in Lleida within the path of totality

The shadow only grazed Lleida, catching its southwestern corner where the Segre runs down towards the Ebro. Fifty-two municipalities fell inside the path and the city of Lleida was on the route, though not in the best seat. Almatret set the provincial record with 71 seconds, a little over a minute of totality, and the numbers fell away quickly as you moved off the shadow's axis. This was short-eclipse country, without the margin Castile enjoyed, but with an August sky statistically more dependable than the north of the country offers.

The index table reflects that trade-off and is unusually tight, with the top five squeezed between 69.2 and 72.6. Almatret leads on 72.6 simply because nobody beat its 71 seconds, even though its 55.8 % clear-sky rate is not the province's best. La Granja d'Escarp answers with the opposite logic at 70.9: six seconds shorter, but 57.7 % clear. Massalcoreig posts the strongest sky record in Lleida at 58 %, with 62 seconds. Maials and Llardecans complete the group on 64 and 62 seconds and figures near 55 %.

The real difficulty was how low the Sun sat: barely 5 degrees above the horizon at maximum, identical across every municipality and among the lowest readings on the mainland path. With the Sun that close to the ground, the viewpoint counted for more than the town, and the local relief cut off the west-northwest line easily. The 54 % average clear-sky figure comes from the 1996-2025 record, good for comparing one area with another but silent on what the sky actually did. The next total eclipse, on 2 August 2027, does not reach Catalonia: its path covers only Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla.
