The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in La Granja d'Escarp (Lleida)

From La Granja d'Escarp you lose ten seconds of totality in a little over eleven kilometres. The municipality, at 246 metres where the Segre meets the Cinca, recorded 1m 5s of total phase; Seròs, barely four kilometres away, dropped to 60 seconds, and Aitona, a little further north, to 55. That abrupt gradient describes the Lleida eclipse well: the band clipped the south-western corner and every kilometre inland cost dearly. The horizon, by contrast, gave no trouble down on the floodplain, with 4 degrees of margin over gentle relief. Totality began at 20:29:09 and the Sun set at 21:02:11 still partially eclipsed, because in this part of the band the eclipse never finished before sunset. Its 1996-2025 record gives 57.7 % of clear days on 12 August. The municipality finished second in the province both for duration and in the observation index, on 70.9 points, with a mean maximum of 33 degrees for the date.
