The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Quart de les Valls (València/Valencia)

The clearest horizon among the five Valencian leaders belonged to Quart de les Valls: 3.2 degrees of margin, a modest number in absolute terms that proved decisive with the Sun at 5 degrees, because it left only 1.8 degrees of terrain in the way. That detail explains an oddity on the map: Benifairó de les Valls, 2.5 kilometres away, had exactly the same 81 seconds of totality and almost identical sky statistics, 72.6 per cent clear days against 71.8 per cent here, and yet the index separates them by twelve points, 81.0 to 68.7. The whole gap is opened by the horizon: 1.2 degrees of margin there, 3.2 here. At 130 metres of average elevation, Quart sits halfway between the Benavites plain and the inland fold of Algímia d'Alfara. Its mean maximum temperature for the date, 32.1 degrees, is the highest of the group, and like the rest of these figures it comes from thirty years of records, not from that 12 August.
