The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Cedeira (A Coruña)

Of the five municipalities that topped the A Coruña index, Cedeira is the only one whose horizon margin, 12.6 degrees, exceeds the Sun's own altitude of 12. This is no rounding quirk: the terrain model places its horizon below the observer's plane, which happens only when looking out to sea from a certain height, and the municipality averages 280 metres. That is what makes this entry unusual, more than the 99 seconds of totality that left it fifth in the province for duration, eight behind Mañón. It also fared better than its eastern neighbours in the cloud lottery: 15.2 per cent clear days against Cariño's 10.3 per cent, 10.2 kilometres away, or Mañón's 8.7 per cent, with 58.4 per cent mean cloud cover. All of it comes from the 1996-2025 series and describes a climate; the actual state of the sky on 12 August 2026 does not appear in this data.
