The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Cabezón de Liébana (Cantabria)

With 66.8 per cent on the rain indicator for this date, Cabezón de Liébana is the second-wettest municipality in Cantabria across the 1996-2025 series, behind only Camaleño. All around it the valley repeats similar numbers: Pesaguero at 66.5 per cent, Potes at 66. That is the Liébana signature, and the reason why a spot with 99 seconds of totality, fourth in the province, could aspire to no more than 71.5 index points.

Its 733 metres of average elevation did not hand it a horizon either: the model assigns 3.4 degrees of terrain in front, leaving 5.6 of the Sun's 9 degrees. Valderredible, two hundred and fifty metres higher and already in the south of the province, carried just 1 degree of obstruction. The 18.3 per cent clear days in this entry is a three-decade average for 12 August and does not describe the sky of that 2026 evening, for which no measurement exists on this site.
