The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Ribera de Arriba (Asturias)

One second separated Ribera de Arriba from the maximum of the entire Spanish eclipse: 109 seconds of totality against El Franco's 110, at the other end of Asturias. For a small council in the centre of the region, at 199 metres of altitude, that is worth putting on record, and it earns 19th in duration among the 78 Asturian councils inside the shadow.

That near record did not translate into an index lead because the sky statistic settles at 13.5 % open days in the 1996-2025 series, twenty-third in the province, with mean cloud cover of 66.3 %. The result: 73.7 points, fourth in Asturias, tied with Villaviciosa, which had got there by the opposite route. The Sun stood at 10 degrees with 8.1 of clearance, so the model detects no significant relief in the viewing direction. Totality ran between 20:27:05 and 20:28:54, and the event was over at 21:21:05. The cloud figures are a thirty-year mean, not a report of the day.
