Municipalities in Pontevedra within the path of totality
3 municipalities in Pontevedra saw the totality of the August 12, 2026 eclipse.
Observation guide
Galicia caught only the eastern edge of the totality track, and Pontevedra's share of it was tiny: three municipalities, none of them a provincial capital. Agolada recorded the longest totality in the province at 35 seconds. Vila de Cruces dropped to twenty seconds and Rodeiro to just thirteen, which is what the very rim of the shadow path looks like when measured municipality by municipality. Anyone who planned around those numbers was working at the boundary of the phenomenon rather than inside its core.
The site's observation index told the same story. Agolada topped the provincial table with 50 points out of 100, and neither of the other two cleared 43. Sky conditions did little to reshuffle the ranking, since the thirty-year average for clear sky during the eclipse window sits near 22 percent across the province, ranging from 17.8 percent at Vila de Cruces to 24.8 percent at Rodeiro. Travelling inland towards the Castilian plateau bought both a substantially longer totality and better historical odds of an open sky.
At maximum the Sun stood eleven to twelve degrees above the horizon, the highest figure anywhere along the mainland track, which gave a little tolerance against the gentle inland Galician relief. Even so, whether the west-northwest quadrant was genuinely clear of trees and ridges decided what each observer saw. The clear-sky percentages summarise three decades of records from 1996 to 2025; they describe a climate, not the sky of that afternoon. The next total eclipse visible from Spain falls on 2 August 2027, and its path touches only Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, so Pontevedra gets no totality.
Pontevedra contributed only 3 towns to the path of totality, so the whole table fits in one glance and splitting it by duration would add nothing: Agolada was the best placed at 35s, and Rodeiro the tightest at 13s.

| Agolada | 20:29:12 | 35s |
