The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Maderuelo (Segovia)

Maderuelo matched the best of Segovia on the stopwatch, a round 100 seconds of totality, and still finished fifth in the provincial index on 81.2 points. The explanation fits in a single cell: its 49.5 % clear-sky figure for the 1996-2025 series is the lowest of the five north-eastern municipalities and ranks 61st among the 204 Segovian entries in the band, a point and a half below Alconada or Riaguas despite barely six kilometres between them. The climate model works from latitude, longitude, altitude and distance to the coast, and such small differences in siting are enough to shift the percentage.

It is also the northernmost point of the group, at 41.51 degrees of latitude, and the one with the latest sunset, at 21:17:48. It entered and left the shadow before the others: totality from 20:29:42 to 20:31:22, with the Sun at 8 degrees and 6.8 of them clear of terrain according to the topographic model. That open-sky percentage is thirty summers of climatology, not an account of what happened.
