The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Lagunaseca (Cuenca)

After totality comes the long, unglamorous part of an eclipse: the disc reopening, which here never finished. At Lagunaseca the total phase closed at 20:32:28 and the Sun set at 21:09:53, thirty-seven minutes later, still visibly notched. The municipality belongs to the eastern stretch of the band, where sunset beat fourth contact to the line, and that turned dusk into the end of the phenomenon itself: there was no moment when the Sun stood whole above the horizon again.

Otherwise it is the highest of the six Cuenca entries on this list at 1,438 metres, the fifth highest of the 121 provincial entries inside the band, with 6.8 degrees of air between the Sun and the western line and an average minimum of 13.4 degrees. Its 90 seconds of totality, starting at 20:30:58, earned fifth place in the index on 78.9 points, held back by the weakest sky record of the leading group: 53.8% of clean sky across the thirty-year series.
