The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in La Hiruela (Madrid)

La Hiruela headed the Madrid regional index on 75.9 points despite holding the worst sky statistics of the top five: 46.3 % of clear days for the date, six points below the regional median. It won on everything else. Its 1m 28s of totality came within a single second of the regional maximum, and from the 1,375 metres of the Sierra del Rincón the model granted it 5.6 degrees of margin over a Sun that stood at seven. In these mountains that margin was worth more than any percentage. Puebla de la Sierra, a little over seven kilometres away, had a better sky and 1m 25s of total phase, but a margin of −1 degree left it with no eclipse at all and 45.8 points; Montejo de la Sierra, at five, was held to 74.3 on 2 degrees.
