The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Carrascosa (Cuenca)

A 55.4% clear-sky record for 12 August: exactly the median of the 121 municipalities of Cuenca inside the band. In terms of sky odds Carrascosa is the perfectly average municipality of its province, and yet it finished fourth in the index on 79.3 points. The explanation lies in what it did have above average: 90 seconds of totality, barely one short of the provincial ceiling, and western relief that left it 6.3 degrees free with the Sun at 6. Being ordinary on climate and excellent on geometry was enough for the extended podium.

It is also the lowest and warmest of the six Cuenca entries here: 1,196 metres and an average high of 28.5 degrees, against Cueva del Hierro's 25.6. And the driest in the historical record, because rain fell in just 28.6% of the three decades measured. Totality ran between 20:30:54 and 20:32:24, and the Sun held out until 21:10:35, the latest sunset of the group, though with no totality left to offer.
