The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Alcaine (Teruel)

Alcaine topped the observation index for the whole province of Teruel on 84.3 points without being anywhere near the Teruel municipality with the longest total phase: its 1m 40s placed it 66th of the 236 the path of totality crossed, two seconds short of the provincial ceiling. What put it first was the rest of the equation. Sitting above the Martín river valley at 661 metres, the terrain model gave it a 4 degree margin between the Sun and the first obstruction towards the west, and its clear-sky record for 12 August stands at 59.9 %, among the highest anywhere in the inland stretch of the path. Obón, barely six kilometres away, had exactly the same duration and finished on 83.9 points because its margin was 2.3 degrees. That percentage condenses thirty Augusts, from 1996 to 2025, and says nothing about the sky on that particular day. Totality itself held from 20:29:52 to 20:31:32.
