The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Oliete (Teruel)

With 60.2 % of clear days on 12 August, Oliete held the best sky record of the five municipalities heading the Teruel ranking, and also the shortest duration: 1m 39s, which matches exactly the median of the 236 municipalities the province had inside the band. Its third place was not bought with seconds but with the 4.7 degrees of margin the terrain model granted it from the 627 metres of the Martín valley, the lowest elevation of the five. The counterexample lay eight kilometres away: Ariño, on an even better 60.5 % clear-sky rate, finished on 71.5 points because its margin barely reached 1.2 degrees. It bears repeating, because this is the kind of figure that gets misread: those percentages come from thirty annual series between 1996 and 2025 and describe the tendency of the date, not what happened over Oliete that evening. Darkness fell at 20:29:48 and lifted at 20:31:27; on duration alone Oliete ranked only 114th in Teruel.
