The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Estercuel (Teruel)

The index left Estercuel and Oliete tied on 84.1 points, second and third in Teruel, and the arithmetic of that tie is a neat summary of how the ranking was built. Estercuel brought one extra second of totality, 1m 40s against 1m 39s, and paid for it with slightly less sky, 59 % of clear days in the historical series against its neighbour's 60.2 %, and with a horizon margin of 3.7 degrees instead of 4.7. Added up and weighted, the result was the same number. Set at 814 metres in the old mining basin, Estercuel also had a comfortable setting: Crivillén, Gargallo, Torre de las Arcas and La Mata de los Olmos all hovered around five degrees of margin. The total phase opened at 20:30:00 and closed at 20:31:40; the Sun set a good half hour later, at 21:04:59, still eclipsed. The cloud figures are 1996-2025 averages. On duration alone it ranked 75th in the province.
