The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Zaragoza (Zaragoza)

The Aragonese capital saw totality, but from the worst third of its own province. Zaragoza logged 83 seconds between 20:28:57 and 20:30:20, twenty fewer than the Calatayud district, and ranked 223rd of the 277 Zaragoza municipalities inside the band. The 82 kilometres between the city and Munébrega were worth, in umbra time, a third more eclipse.

The consolation lay in the sky and in the heat. With 58.0% of 12 August dates coming up clear since the series began in 1996, the city held the best climate statistic of any entry in this archive, 33rd in the province, and also the highest mean maximum, 33.1 degrees, typical of the Ebro valley at 197 metres. Those are thirty-year averages and say nothing about the sky that actually turned up. The clock, meanwhile, worked against the city: the Sun set at 21:07:35, barely 37 and a quarter minutes after totality ended, the shortest window in this group, and the eclipse was still unfinished when the disc disappeared below the horizon.
