The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in València (València/Valencia)

The band did not cross València through its centre; it grazed the northern half of the city, and that shows in how the seconds fall away across the metropolitan area: 60 seconds of totality in the capital, 55 in Sedaví, 54 in Alfafar and 52 in Massanassa, 2.9 kilometres from the municipal reference point. Eight seconds fewer in under three kilometres.

For duration the city ranked 77th of the 132 Valencian municipalities with totality, in the lower half of its own province and 22 seconds behind Benavites, 36 kilometres north. The index lifted it to 65th, on 73.1 points, thanks to 71.1 per cent of clear days across the 1996-2025 average and a horizon with 3.5 degrees of margin, the most generous of the Valencian entries in this batch despite an average elevation of one metre. A note on the clock: totality ended at 20:33:24 and the Sun set at 21:01:18, before the eclipse itself was over.
