The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Valderredible (Cantabria)

Valderredible has the highest average elevation of this whole set of entries, 981 metres, and is the only Cantabrian one already breathing plateau air. It shows in everything. Its rain indicator for the date, 41.5 per cent, sits twenty-five points below the 66 per cent carried by Potes, Pesaguero and Cabezón de Liébana, 63 kilometres to the north-west; its mean cloud cover, 54.4 per cent, is seven points lower; and its 20.8 per cent clear days in the 1996-2025 series brushes the provincial maximum of 21 per cent.

It also had an almost clean horizon despite the altitude: 1 degree of terrain in front, against Potes' 6.2. With 98 seconds of totality, eighth in the province for duration, it gathered 71.9 index points and slipped into fourth place in Cantabria, the only one at the top that does not belong to Liébana. The shadow passed between 20:27:40 and 20:29:18, the latest onset of the Cantabrian entries.
