The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Tarragona (Tarragona)

The city of Tarragona made it into the band, but only just and in its poorer half: 59 seconds of totality, 97th of 169, little more than half what was measured some eighty kilometres further south in the Montsià. And unlike other capitals in this archive, it did not make up for it on the weather side. Its 43.1 % of clear days across the 1996-2025 series leaves it 124th in the province, fourteen points below Amposta, and its rainfall indicator, 32.5, is the highest of the six Tarragona municipalities gathered here.

The index reflects that without mercy: 64.4 points, a long way from Ulldecona's 81.6. It was, however, the first of the group to reach maximum, at 20:29:54, with the Sun at 4 degrees and 3.3 of clearance over the terrain from its 64 metres of altitude. The Sun set at 20:57:58 before the partial phase had ended, and that is the last hour the record keeps of that evening.
