The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Maranchón (Guadalajara)

Of the five municipalities that led the provincial index, Maranchon is the highest: 1,307 metres. That altitude shows through the rest of its climate record, the coolest of the group, where 12 August averages a high of 27.3 degrees and a low of 14.6 across the 1996-2025 series. Being up there also helped with what mattered that evening: 6.2 degrees free between the disc and the western crest, with the Sun only 7 degrees up, meaning an almost flat terrain profile exactly where the disc was going to vanish.

The total phase ran 101 seconds, 20:30:06 to 20:31:47, and the clear-sky statistic came to 55.5%, identical to Ciruelos del Pinar. That combination produced 83.4 index points and fifth place out of 288, three tenths behind the leader. It was also the last of the five to say goodbye to the Sun, at 21:11:39: nearly forty minutes of partial phase after totality ended, and even so the disc sank without ever fully clearing.
