The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Forcall (Castelló/Castellón)
Castelló/Castellón
Within the path of totalityOne hundred seconds, just one off the provincial ceiling, and it was not alone: fourteen Castellon municipalities recorded exactly that figure. What separated them was the ground. Cati, with the same 100 seconds, was given a horizon clearance of minus 0.8 degrees, the Sun sitting below its own relief line at the instant of maximum, and sank to 53.2 points. Forcall, inland in Els Ports, kept 2.7 degrees of clearance and could therefore cash in its duration. The shadow arrived here at 20:30:13 and withdrew at 20:31:53.
That extra duration was paid for in the sky column. A 59.0% share of clear days is excellent by mainland standards, but only 66th within a province whose mean tops 59% and whose best record reaches 70.6%: eight points below the capital. Its 33.5% of Augusts with rain is also the highest of the five Castellon municipalities gathered in this archive, consistent with the 793 metres of altitude of the village. With 84.1 points it finished second in Castellon, tied with Zorita del Maestrazgo.
