The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Candasnos (Huesca)

Candasnos supplied the eastern corner of the Monegros group: at 0.07 degrees of east longitude, almost on the Lleida border, it measured 68 seconds of totality, the fourth longest of the 57 Huesca municipalities in shadow, two short of Peñalba's maximum. Its climate profile is that of genuine dry farmland: 60.9 % clear days on the twelfth of August across three decades of records, barely 26.9 % mean cloud cover and a typical maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees, among the highest in this whole archive. With 73.0 points it came fourth in the provincial index.

The problem, as across the whole southern strip of Huesca, was the Sun's altitude: 5 degrees, of which the terrain model put 4.9 above the relief. From its 280 metres the ground subtracted barely a tenth of a degree, yet the absolute margin remained minimal. Totality ran from 20:29:04 to 20:30:12 and the Sun set at 21:03:30 with the partial eclipse still under way.
