The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Torreblanca (Castelló/Castellón)

Twenty of the 135 municipalities Castellon placed in the band had the Sun below their own terrain horizon at maximum: one in seven missed totality from the town itself, even though the shadow passed overhead. With the Sun barely 5 degrees up, the province was a topographic minefield, and that is the context that gives Torreblanca's 13 metres of altitude their value.

At sea level, with the sierra far enough away, the model left it 2.2 degrees of clearance: the tightest of the five Castellon municipalities in this archive, but enough. On that base it added 99 seconds of totality, thirty-seventh of 135, between 20:30:45 and 20:32:24, and a 64.1% clear-sky share in the thirty-year record, with rain in just 15.8% of those years. The result was 85.2 points: not merely the highest score in Castellon, but the highest of all 3,963 Spanish municipalities that fell inside the totality band. The Sun set at 21:00:27 still eclipsed.
