The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Palencia (Palencia)

The capital paid five seconds. Its 102 seconds of totality place it 148th of the 191 Palencia municipalities in the band, well under a provincial median of 105 and far from the 107 shared by twenty-five towns. It still finished thirtieth in the index, on 83.1 points, because it held its own in the other two variables.

Climate was its strongest card: 53.4% of clear days, 23rd in the province, and above all 21.0% of Augusts with rain across the 1996-2025 series, the lowest figure of the six Palencia municipalities gathered here. It was also the only one of them to see the astronomical end of the eclipse, fourth contact, at 21:22:29, before the Sun went down; in the other five sunset came first. The computed horizon clearance, 7.5 degrees, refers to terrain alone: inside the city, with nine degrees of Sun over the west-northwest, the roofline mattered more than the topography.
