Two hundred and fifty-two metres above sea level. Cortes is effectively the floor of the Navarrese totality band: 140th of 141 in altitude, deep in the floor of the Ebro valley, with nothing around that rises. That elevation also explains its other extreme, the thermal one, because it is the hottest municipality in this set of pages, where 12 August averages 32.6 degrees at its peak and 18.9 at its lowest across the 1996-2025 series. It is also the driest of the five Navarrese entries gathered here, with rain recorded on only 24.6% of those thirty days.

In the eclipse it was the first to say goodbye: thanks to its eastern position the Sun set at 21:10:18, earlier than at any of the other four, and it did so still partly covered. The total phase had run 83 seconds, 20:28:40 to 20:30:03, the eighth provincial figure, with 5.8 degrees of clearance above a horizon that in the Ebro lowlands barely exists as an obstacle, and the Sun at 7 degrees.
