The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Castelló de la Plana (Castelló/Castellón)
Castelló/Castellón
Within the path of totalityTwenty-nine minutes separated maximum from sunset. The capital of la Plana lived the eclipse against the clock: totality from 20:31:14 to 20:32:47 and sunset at 21:00:55, with the disc still bitten. The whole Castellon coast sat in that bracket, with Peniscola down to 28.6 minutes, while inland at Forcall or la Mata de Morella there were still 32 left. There was no room here for a second attempt if the first line of sight was not clear.
Its figures are pure contrast. On sky it led: a 67.2% clear-day share in the thirty-year record, ninth among the 135 Castellon municipalities the shadow covered, with only 10.8% of Augusts seeing rain. On seconds it fell short: 93 of totality, below the provincial median of 94 and eight fewer than the provincial maximum. At 33 metres of altitude and with barely five degrees of Sun left, horizon clearance came to 3.2 degrees, slim in absolute terms but above the Castellon median. The index gave it 84.0 points, fourth in the province.
