The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse in Bercianos del Real Camino (León)

Bercianos del Real Camino traded seconds for sky, and it worked out. Its 50.6% of clear days is the best of the five places heading the Leon index, 40th among the 211 municipalities the province placed under the shadow; in a province where that share swings between 13.7% and 56%, sitting nine points above the provincial mean is no small thing.

The cost was duration: 104 seconds, the shortest of that group of five and five fewer than the 109 at Carmenes, the only Leon municipality at the top of the duration table. The index still gave it 83.0 points and fourth place, partly thanks to 9.0 degrees of horizon clearance, among the most generous in the entire Spanish band and typical of a plain with nothing in front of it. Totality ran from 20:28:32 to 20:30:16, with nine degrees of solar altitude, and the disc was not whole again until 21:22:11, still clear of the skyline. The sky figures are 1996-2025 averages.
